When you go to the beach, you want the entire family to be there with you, and that includes your dog. But, not all beaches in the US are conducive for dogs since many of them don’t allow dogs in the first place.
As a family that owns a dog, this can get pretty infuriating but there’s no reason to worry because there are several dog-friendly beaches in the US that you can choose from. In this article, we’ve compiled a list of eight beaches that welcome your four-legged friends too.

Top 8 Beaches that allow Dogs:
1. Del Mar Dog Beach
Located in California, the Del Mar Dog Beach is an excellent choice. Dogs are expected to be leashed from June through Labor Day, but apart from that there are no restrictions during the rest of the year.
2. Huntington Beach
It’s California again. Huntington beach is a surfer’s beach essentially, but there’s nothing stopping your pups from hitting the waves too. In general, dogs have to be leashed, but well-behaved ones can go leash-free and roam around.
3. Cannon Beach
Oregon’s Cannon Beach with its ginormous Haystock Rock is the beach to be at. Dogs can go around without a leash, and have a great time with the family. The beach hosts its very own dog show which is very popular among locals and tourists.
4. Wildwood Dog Beach
Jersey’s Wildwood Beach is a good choice for your pups. Although they are to be leashed when on the beach, there is a separate fenced area where your dogs can get all the exercise they need. There are some additional restrictions such that dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk either, so keep that in mind.
5. Driftwood Beach
Situated on Georgia’s Jekyll Island, Driftwood Beach is a sight to behold. The beach does not allow free roaming dogs under any circumstances and they all have to be put on a leash. But there is no need to worry, there’s plenty of driftwood to play fetch with your pet pooch.
6. Jupiter Beach
Florida’s Jupiter Beach is a great place to let your dogs off the leash as long as they are well-behaved. It is the most pet-friendly beach in Florida and allows for some quality time by the sea for the entire family, furry or not.
7. Rosie’s Dog Beach
The most dog-friendly beach in all of California, Rosie’s Dog Beach is pup paradise. They allow your dogs to roam around freely without leashes, but they need to be under your control at all times. The beach can get pretty crowded so you need to be the judge whether you want to take your dog off his leash or not.
8. Montrose Dog Beach
Your dog will need a Dog-Friendly Area tag (DFA-tag) to enter this beach, and to be allowed without leash. It is located at the edge of Lake Michigan and is equipped with a complete dog-wash where your pup can rinse off with shampoo and conditioner to get the sand out after a tiring day at the beach.
