When it comes to air travel, their will always be plenty of competition as we search for that perfect price to touch down on that perfect destination.
Most avid travelers have Hawaii as a future travel destination on their list and they probably keep bumping it down their list either because of affordability or lack of convenient flight service.
Hawaii is the 50th state of the United States and the only U.S. State not to be located in North America. Hawaii is composed entirely of islands out in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean. Hawaii’s diverse natural scenery including rugged landscapes, cliffs, waterfalls, tropical foliage, massive public beaches and active volcanic activity attract tourists, surfers, biologists and volcanologists from all over the world.
Traveling by air to Hawaii from the Continental United States just became easier and cheaper. The best airlines to travel to Hawaii from the west coast of the U.S. is Hawaiian Airlines and Alaskan Airlines. They are both respectable airline carries offering competitive pricing and each recently added additional routes into Hawaii.
United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Airlines provide flight service to Hawaii with United Airlines dropping fares from Los Angeles that is forcing the rest of the airlines within its’ market to do the same. The average air fare per person from the west coast is $400.
Southwest Airlines just announced that they will be providing routes to Hawaii from Oakland, Sacramento, San Jose and San Diego sometime in 2019. This announcement will change the market again and force cheaper fares.
Hawaiian Airlines is the longest operating airline in Hawaii and flies into Honolulu, Hawaii, Kauai and Maui from Las Vegas, Nevada, as Well as Los Angeles, New York, Oakland, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose and Seattle.
Alaska Airlines flies into the same Hawaii cities as Hawaiian Airlines but from Anchorage, Bellingham, Oakland, Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego, San Jose and Seattle. Forbes Magazine notes that Alaska Airlines provides the most comfortable flight across the Pacific Ocean by operating Airbus A320’s that provides 32” leg room in Standard Class, 38” leg room in Premium Class and 55” leg room in First Class. There is no Wi-Fi service on these planes but they offer seat back entertainment, power outlets in every seat and full meals. Flights across the Pacific are typically 5 hours long departing from the west coast while from other U.S. cities; it can be up to a 12 hour flight to Hawaii.
With Southwest Airlines emerging and United Airlines staking a claim in cheaper fares, it looks like 2019 will bring much affordable airline fares for travelers flying to Hawaii. I’m sure this will cause tourism to increase rapidly among the islands of Hawaii. This might be the right time to begin planning your Hawaiian tropical vacation.
